Beyond Reality is my response to the ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) brief: The Spaces Between. It is a Bilingual book that explores the concept of the backrooms, an online phenomenon that depicts an endless maze of unsettling and mysterious rooms. My goal with this publication is to create an immersive and engaging experience for young adults who have an interest in horror and science fiction. Through a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure format, readers will navigate the backrooms, making choices that will determine their fate: whether they escape, die, or become trapped.
The content consists of different backrooms, and within each room, there are chapters that the reader may explore. Choices at the end of each chapter lead to different outcomes. Pages accompanied by room pictures follow their layout, while the layout of the rest of the pages follow the meaning of the text.
The three final outcomes are reality, trapped, and death, based on the choices each user makes. Their layouts are related to both the image and the meaning of the text.
